BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 5. Kyrgyzstan is considering the benefits of using the Middle Corridor, the nation's Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev said at today's press conference summing up the ministry’s activities in the first half of 2024 in Bishkek , Trend reports.

“All cargo traffic is going through the southern corridor: cargo is sent to Iran, then to Türkiye and then to Europe, and back along the same route. However, alternative routes are being considered that could speed up transportation. One of them is the Middle Corridor passing through Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and the Caucasus,” the minister noted.

According to him, these projects are actively discussed with European partners and Central Asian countries.

The Middle Corridor links the container rail freight transportation networks of China and the European Union countries via Central Asia, the Caucasus, Türkiye, and Eastern Europe.

The multilateral multimodal transportation infrastructure links the ferry terminals of the Caspian and Black Seas with the railway systems of China, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and Poland.

The Middle Corridor facilitates the flow of cargo from China to Türkiye, as well as to Europe and vice versa.

The route train along this corridor delivers cargo from China to Europe in an average of 20–25 days, and this is one of the main advantages of this transport corridor.
