BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan, August 9. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov proposed exploring the creation of new multimodal routes and transport corridors through Central Asia, Trend reports via the Kyrgyz president's press office.
President Zhaparov made the statement at the 6th Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State in Astana,
He highlighted the ongoing improvements and upgrades to international highways in Kyrgyzstan, the construction of modern airports throughout the country, the completion of the major strategic North-South road project, and the initiation of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railroad construction.
Zhaparov also mentioned Kyrgyzstan's active efforts in the rational use of water and energy resources, as well as advancements in energy efficiency and conservation. An interagency agreement for the Kambarata-1 Dam construction project was signed between the energy ministries of Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan.
"The parties are working to harmonize the draft intergovernmental agreement. We have also begun developing the potential of small rivers, with the construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants underway across the country. We welcome cooperation and investment proposals in this area," Zhaparov stated.
Additionally, he emphasized that Kyrgyzstan initiated the establishment of the Regional Center for Energy-Efficient and Resource-Saving Technologies in Bishkek last year.
