The jubilee summit of the CIS, which brought together 8 of the 11 leaders of Commonwealth countries, was opened in Dushanbe on Saturday, RIA Novosti reported.
The leaders now have a narrow format meeting behind the closed doors, following which the delegations will join them.
The leaders discuss further development of the post-Soviet association and urgent international problems.
The presidents are expected to adopt a number of documents regulating interstate cooperation within the CIS in various areas, including improved air defense system and immigration policy.
The CIS leaders are also expected to consider information on the implementation of the Action Plan to implement the basic concept of further development of the Commonwealth.
