Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Nikolai Bordyuzha arrives in Tajikistan with a three-day official visit on Tuesday, CA-NEWS reported referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.

As expected, during his visit Bordyuzha will hold meetings with top political leadership of the Republic. Issues of cooperation within the CSTO and the preparations for the upcoming activities of the Summit will be discussed at the meeting.

In addition, the Secretary General will explore issues related to the 20th anniversary of the Treaty on Collective Security and the 10th anniversary of the Organization.

The Collective Security Treaty was signed on May 15, 1992. Ten years later the treaty united Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan in the CSTO. Uzbekistan affected by international pressure after Andijan events in 2005, once again resumed its membership in the Collective Security Treaty, and in June 2006 in Minsk it was admitted to the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

Last week, the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, first among the leaders of the CSTO Heads of State, invited the member states to decide on the future participation of Uzbekistan in the organization. According to him, Uzbekistan has not ratified any essential documents in the framework of the CSTO.

"I do not rule out that Uzbekistan, in the end, will stay without the CSTO, it will be difficult for it to maintain independence, but this is the business of Uzbekistan," said Lukashenko.

He added that serious decisions will be made at the upcoming events of CSTO scheduled for November and December.
