BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 12. Since 1992, the US has provided over $330 million in security sector assistance to Tajikistan, Trend reports citing the press service of the US Embassy in Tajikistan.
Training, equipment, and infrastructure are all part of the US assistance to Tajikistan. Previously, the US government supported renovation and construction of the Training Center for the Ministry of Defense Peacekeeping Battalion and built the Magob field training area for the Mobile Forces of the Ministry of Defense, at a cost of $1.5 million.
The US Embassy in Dushanbe provided 10 Jeeps to Tajikistan's National Guard on November 8, 2022, to assist Tajikistan in securing its borders. The vehicles, which cost $858,818 and include spare parts packages, will allow the National Guard to conduct operations in the uneven terrain of the border regions.
Notably, the US has partnered with Tajikistan for 30 years and has provided $1.8 billion in development and security assistance through programs that support Tajikistan’s security, economic development, health, civil society, and education.
