BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 15. Tajikistan attracted almost $430 million of direct investment from other countries in 2023, the Chairman of the State Committee on Investments and State Property Management of Tajikistan, Kadyrzoda Saadi said, Trend reports via Russian media.
The direct investments came mainly from China, Türkiye, Russia and other countries. The largest share of investments (85 percent) last year was directed to the extraction of minerals, 13 percent for production and proceeding, and 1.7 percent to construction and other fields.
Nowadays, 72 state investment projects worth almost $4 billion are being implemented in the country.
Last year, Tajikistan signed 21 new agreements with the development partners on the implementation of state investment projects of more than $717 million.
According to the chairman, one of the largest investment agreements signed in the frame of the Tajk-Russian forum in 2022 was the contract between Tajikistan and JC BTK Group, which specializes in the production of clothes.
The agreement provides for the launch of a Tajik-Russian sewing factory in Tajikistan. The amount of the agreement is more than $200 million.
As Kadyrzoda added, Tajikistan is currently working with Russia on agreements on mining and banking sector.
Russia is the main trade partner of Tajikistan. The value of mutual trade turnover between the two countries amounted to more than $1.67 billion in 2022.
