BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 22. Inflation in Tajikistan amounted to 0.5 percent in January 2023, Trend reports with reference to the National Bank of Tajikistan.

According to the bank, Tajikistan’s inflation in annual terms amounted to 4.3 percent in the reporting period.

Meanwhile, as outlined in the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) report, inflation in the country in December 2022 was at 4.2 percent year-on-year. Inflation in November 2022 amounted to 4.5 percent in annual terms.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Tajikistan, the annual inflation rate was at 4.2 percent last year, which is 3.8 percent lower than in 2021 (8 percent). Inflation was influenced by the growth in prices for food products - by 5.2 percent, non-food products – by 4 percent and services - by 1.9 percent.

Furthermore, the EDB expects the growth of inflationary pressures in 2023, caused by the weakening of the somoni and the increase in the price of services provided to the population.
