BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 17. The value of humanitarian aid provided by the donor countries to Tajikistan has decreased by 6.4 times from January through February 2023 compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to the Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan.

The financing countries have provided Tajikistan with $6.7 million, during the corresponding period. In comparison, assistance for $43 million was provided in the first two months of 2022.

According to the statistics, humanitarian aid, weighing 2,400 tons, was provided by 23 countries in the period from January through February, this year.

The top 3 donor countries to Tajikistan on the reporting date consist of China - 42.1 percent of the total amount of humanitarian aid, Türkiye – 14.3 percent, and the US – 12.2 percent.

Meanwhile, Tajikistan received humanitarian aid for $141 million in 2022.

According to the Eurasian Fund for Stabilization and Development (EFSD), international financial organizations and development agencies have carried out 447 sovereign financing operations with a total cost of $4.7 billion in Tajikistan from 2008 through 2022.

The projects in Tajikistan were mostly implemented by the World Bank (148 operations), the USAID (86 operations), the International Monetary Fund (74 operations), and the Asian Development Bank (70 operations).

As the EFSD noted, the largest amount of operations in Tajikistan was implemented in 2013.

The EFSD sovereign financing database covers 11 countries of the Eurasian region and includes information on operations financed by 10 international financial organizations.
