BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 3. The consumer price index in Tajikistan will reach 6.6 percent in 2023, Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) says, Trend reports.
This outlook has been revised upward from the previous November forecast, which anticipated a consumer price growth of 6 percent in 2023.
Economists expects the monthly inflation rates in the country to surpass the figures of the same period in 2022, due to the dynamics of the somoni exchange rate and the decrease in the refinancing rate from late 2022 to early 2023.
For 2024, the EDB predicts a consumer price index in Tajikistan to be 5.6 percent, which is a downward revision from the previously projected 6.1 percent in the November outlook. Looking ahead to 2025, the bank anticipates an increase in the consumer price index, reaching 6.2 percent.
In the November outlook, the EDB estimated a consumer price index of 4.2 percent for Tajikistan in 2022, which has been revised downward from the initial prediction of 6.9 percent.
In 2021, the consumer price index in Tajikistan was reported at 8 percent, according to the EDB.
