DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 21. The state budget of Tajikistan received 8.51 billion somoni ($776 million) through taxes and domestic payments from January through June 2023, Trend reports.

According to the Tax Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, this amount exceeded the approved plan by 594 million somoni ($54 million) and surpasses the projected figures by 411.5 million somoni ($37.5 million).

The committee noted that the quality of revenue collection for the state budget improved compared to previous years. However, during this period, the goals for two types of taxes weren't achieved: the social tax from non-budget businesses and taxes on natural resources.

Meanwhile, the value of the outstanding tax debt amounted to 764.3 million somoni ($69.6 million) as of July 1, 2023, which is an increase of 36.2 million somoni ($3.3 million) compared to January 1, 2023.

According to the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan, the country’s state budget reached over 9.5 billion somoni (slightly over $870 million) from January through March 2023, which is exceeded the revised plan by 5.7-percent.

The projected revenues in terms of money were exceeded by 520 million somoni ($48 million). Taxes remained the primary source of the state budget's income during the period, contributing to over 60 percent of the total inflow.
