BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 21. Tajikistan imported chemical and pharmaceutical products from Switzerland worth 3.826 million CHF ($4.3 million) from January through June 2023, according to the preliminary data provided to Trend by the Federal Office for Customs and Border Security of Switzerland.
According to the source, during the same period in 2022, Tajikistan's imports of these products from Switzerland amounted to 159,163 CHF ($180,903). However, this value surged notably in the second half of 2022, reaching 1.483 million CHF ($1.6 million).
The Swiss customs statistics revealed a significant shift in Tajikistan's trade with Switzerland during the period from January through June 2023, as compared to the preceding year.
Notably, the exports from Tajikistan to Switzerland experienced a substantial decrease, plummeting to 205,562 CHF ($234,427), whereas in the first half of 2022, they reached 265.888 million CHF ($303.2 million).
Conversely, Tajikistan's imports from Switzerland surged, amounting to 32.461 million CHF ($37 million) in the first half of 2023. This is a significant increase from 525,136 CHF ($598,875) recorded during the same period in 2022.
Thus, Switzerland's trade balance with Tajikistan stood at 32.255 million CHF ($36.7 million) in the first half of 2023.
