DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, August 21. A total of 17 batches, or 1,845 cubic meters, of timber were exported from the Republic of Khakassia in Russia to Tajikistan in July 2023, Trend reports.
According to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance of Russia (Rosselkhoznadzor), Tajikistan is the primary destination for timber imports from Khakassia.
Since the beginning of 2023, Khakassia has exported a total of 14,777 cubic meters of wood products to countries including Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and China. All the exported quarantined products fit the phytosanitary requirements of the importing countries.
As per the Statistical Agency of Tajikistan, the trade turnover between Tajikistan and CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) member countries reached $1.73 billion, accounting for 50.6 percent of Tajikistan's total trade turnover from January through June 2023. The figure decreased by 0.1 percent compared to the same period of the previous year.
During the first half of 2023, Tajikistan engaged in trade operations with 106 countries. In total, Tajikistan's trade turnover amounted to $3.42 billion from January through June 2023, declining 2.8 percent or $98.2 million year-on-year.
