DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, September 28. A total of 71.11 million tons of cargo were transported by road transport in Tajikistan from January through August 2023, accounting for 94.4 percent of the total cargo transportation, Trend reports.
Data from the National Statistical Agency of Tajikistan shows that cargo transportation by road increased by 14 percent year-on-year.
In the Khatlon region, 24.910 million tons of goods were transported by road, in the Sughd region, 22.077 million tons were transported, and 613,200 tons were transported in the Gorno-Badakhshan region.
Additionally, cargo transportation by road in Dushanbe amounted to 11.483 million tons, and 12.025 million tons of cargo were transported in districts under central government jurisdiction.
During the same period, cargo transportation by railway across the country amounted to 4.194 million tons, increasing by 11.5 percent compared to January through August 2022.
In the first eight months of 2023, the total volume of goods transported by all modes of transport in Tajikistan reached 75.3 million tons, which is a 13.8 percent increase compared to the same period in the previous year.
The total volume of freight transport across all modes of transport for the first eight months of 2023 was recorded at 7.4 billion tons-km.
