DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, October 14. The value of agricultural production in Tajikistan amounted to 43.809 billion somoni ($3.9 billion) from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan indicates that the figure increased by 3.192 billion somoni ($288 million) compared to the same period last year.
Of this amount, horticulture production accounted for 33.379 billion somoni ($3 billion), while livestock production was at 10.430 billion somoni ($942 million).
During the period under review, the production of melons increased by 21.3 percent, vegetables by 11.3 percent, including onions by 21.5 percent, and potatoes by 3.8 percent.
Currently, Tajikistan is implementing three state investment projects in the field of agriculture, with a total value of over $39 million. These projects are aimed at improving agriculture and promoting its further development in the country.
According to the Republic's Statistical Agency, approximately a quarter of the country's GDP is generated by the agricultural sector.
