DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 6. A total of 6,300 tons of pasta products were manufactured in Tajikistan from January through September 2023, Trend reports.
During the study period, Tajikistan's Dushanbe produced 3,900 tons of pasta products, accounting for 62 percent of the country's total pasta production.
The annual demand for pasta in the country is 13,900 tons. Pasta manufacture is carried out by 9 businesses in Dushanbe.
On October 31, seven large industrial firms in Dushanbe began operations, creating approximately 4,000 job opportunities, including a pasta manufacturing factory. The factory occupies 0.5 hectares and has an annual output capacity of 3,000 tons. The machinery for this freshly built facility was brought from Italy.
The other enterprises launched in Dushanbe included the renovated "Gulistoni Dushanbe" sewing factory, the "Carpets Dushanbe" enterprise, and the "Arvis" textile factory, as well as an electrical equipment manufacturing plant. These endeavors align with Tajikistan's accelerated industrialization strategy for 2022–2026.
In January 2022, President Rahmon declared this period the 'Years of Industrial Development' with ambitious plans to increase industrial production by 2.5 times within five years, aiming to reach 95 billion somoni ($9.3 billion) by 2026, up from 38.8 billion somoni ($3.7 billion) in 2021.
