Insurance sector in Tajikistan expanding with more contracts getting signed

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, November 29. The total number of insurance contracts concluded in Tajikistan reached 1,032 million from January through June 2023 of the current year, which is an increase of 121,800 contracts (13.4 percent) compared to the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

As per data from the National Bank of Tajikistan, the overall value of insurance payments in the first half of 2023 amounted to 194.3 million somoni ($17.8 million), representing a growth of 16.8 percent compared to the first half of 2022.

By the end of the first half of the current year, insurance reserves reached 252.1 million somoni ($23 million), which is 57.9 percent more than in the same period last year.

The value of insurance payouts made totaled 9.8 million somoni ($902,555), declining by 3.1 percent compared to the corresponding period last year.

As of June 30, 2023, Tajikistan's insurance market consisted of 16 insurance and reinsurance organizations, comprising 1 state-owned and 15 non-state insurance companies.
