DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, December 19. The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) predicts that by the end of 2023, one US dollar will be equivalent to 10.8 Tajik somoni, Trend reports.

"The indicators of economic dynamics for the current year provide grounds to believe that maintaining the existing balance in the currency market in 2023 does not significantly restrain GDP growth and inflation. The value of the Tajik somoni relative to the dollar may not change significantly in 2024," the bank’s economists believe.

As such, the bank expects that one US dollar will be equivalent to 10.9 Tajik somoni by the end of 2024.

However, in 2025, a gradual weakening of the national currency will resume, reaching one US dollar equaling 11.1 Tajik somoni, and this trend will continue in 2026, with one US dollar equaling 11.4 Tajik somoni.

“Otherwise, the real strengthening of the somoni over time could negatively impact the country's balance of payments stability and the competitiveness of Tajik-produced goods,” the EDB believes.
