DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, January 15. A total of $194.2 million was invested in the economy of the Sughd region in 2023, with foreign investments accounting for $124.2 million, Trend reports.
Rajabbay Ahmadzoda, the Chairman of the Sughd region, shared this information during a meeting with entrepreneurs from Russia.
Ahmadzoda noted that the Sughd region is home to 1,100 small and large enterprises, and in 2023, the overall industrial production output reached 26.51 billion somoni ($2.423 billion).
During the meeting, it was emphasized that the business circles in the Sughd region already have mutually beneficial collaborations with their partners in Russia and have successfully implemented several joint projects.
"There are still many untapped opportunities, and the Sughd region can collaborate with partners in the development of new enterprises, cotton processing, production of finished goods, fruit and vegetable processing, wool and leather processing, pharmaceuticals, and metallurgy," Ahmadzoda said.
The Russian entrepreneurs visited Sughd with the aim of understanding the local economic situation and building partnerships. They said that they are eager to strengthen economic connections and expand collaboration in different areas.
