DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 20. A total of 21.8 million non-cash transactions were carried out in Tajikistan's trading establishments and service points in 2023, Trend reports.
Data from the National Bank of Tajikistan indicates that the value of non-cash transactions amounted to 15.5 billion somoni ($1.413 million).
During 2023, the ratio of cash withdrawals to non-cash payments for goods and services using electronic payment methods stood at 80 percent to 20 percent.
Furthermore, the share of non-cash transactions increased by 8 percentage points compared to 2022.
As of December 31, 2023, the total number of bank payment cards in circulation in Tajikistan reached 6.7 million, marking a 32.6 percent increase compared to the same date in 2022, when the number stood at 5.1 million.
At the end of 2023, Tajikistan had 2,240 ATMs, 3,492 electronic cash withdrawal points, and 6,939 POS terminals in operation.
Moreover, as of December 31, 2023, Tajikistan had 63 credit financial organizations in operation, including 14 traditional banks, 1 Islamic bank, 1 non-bank credit organization, 19 microcredit deposit organizations, 3 microcredit organizations, and 25 microcredit funds.
