Number of cattle, sheep and goats in Tajikistan goes up

DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, February 27. The number of cattle in Tajikistan amounted to 2.662 million heads, as of January 1, 2024, Trend reports.

According to the National Statistical Agency under the President of Tajikistan, this figure increased by 108,100 heads or 4.2 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

Additionally, at the reporting date the number of sheep and goats reached 6.660 million heads, which is higher by 343,000 heads or 5.4 percent compared to 2023.

Last year, the production volume of meat from large and small livestock in Tajikistan amounted to 342,685 tons, which is 14 percent higher than the same period in 2022.

The value of agricultural production in Tajikistan reached 63.028 billion somoni ($5.753 billion) in 2023. Compared to 2022, it increased by 9 percent. Crop output grew by 6.8 percent, reaching 43.365 billion somoni ($3.958 billion), while livestock production increased by 14.1 percent, reaching 19.662 billion somoni ($1.794 billion).
