DUSHANBE, Tajikistan, July 18. The EU and Tajikistan are set to sign an Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) in the near future, Trend reports.

This was announced following the eleventh annual Cooperation Committee meeting in Dushanbe, according to the EU Delegation to Tajikistan.

The EU stated that the EPCA aims to deepen the existing partnership between the EU and Tajikistan and broaden cooperation into new areas, elevating their relations to a more ambitious level. The EU reiterated its commitment to supporting Tajikistan's stability, prosperity, and ongoing reforms.

During the meeting of Cooperation Committee, the sides reviewed the current state of their bilateral relations, exchanged views on recent political and socio-economic developments, and explored cooperation across various sectors including water management, environmental protection, energy, trade, and investment. They also discussed regional and international issues of mutual interest.

"The EU supports the development of the vast hydropower potential of Tajikistan, as well as its efforts to improve water and irrigation management. The EU support will also focus on trade facilitation along the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, and explore possibilities for Critical Raw Materials engagement," the EU said.
