Turkmenistan holds large-scale military-tactical trainings

Large-scale trainings were held at Chemenabat military training ground near Turkmen-Iranian border, Serhetabat region, Mary province. The Turkmen President attended the trainings on March 4, the offical Turkmen source reported. 

Turkmenistan has extensive border with Afghanistan and Iran. The representaives of foreign embassies and diplomatic missions were invited for the demonstrative trainings with extempore fight against drug band.

The Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov combining positions of Supreme Commander-in-Chief and Head of the Security Council has recently adopted military doctrine, appointed a new Minister of Defence and got familiarized with the construction process of military camps and frontier posts.

The issue on special sub-units equipping with modern technique was especially stressed after Ashgabat's incident taken place in mid September, 2008. That time armed drug band was neutralized, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said.

Ashgabat's officials said that Turkmenistan having neutrality status "does not follow any other goals except protection of motherland's holy frontiers and peaceful situation in the country. Turkmenistan intends to implement complex program on national security strengthning and support high defence of army - guarntee of serene and succesful life of Turkmen people."
