Turkmenistan has declared Nov. 17-19 as non-working days due to the Qurban holiday. The holiday has been celebrated at the state level since the country gained independence.

"Let prayers, blessings, holiday treats and Sadaqah, and prayers for happiness and prosperity for the motherland, be heard during the blessed Qurban holiday and accepted by the Almighty Allah and let our best wishes come true -- Kabul bolsun!," Berdimuhammedov said.

Traditionally, Turkmen streets are packed with crowds, traders and musicians. On the first day of the holiday, the sacred Gurban ayat prayer and the rite of sacrifice are made in mosques.

The Turkmen leader also noted that the country follows the principle of a "state for the people," and constantly looks to take care of the physical and spiritual health of its people.
