A Day of Uzbek Culture will be held on Monday in the Russian city of Tyumen.
The festival is timed to mark the 20th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence. It was organized on the initiative of the Uzbek National Society Navruz, a spokesman for the local committee for nationality affairs told Itar-Tass.
Taking part in the festivities will be political figures, businessmen, men of science and arts, leaders of national public associations from the Tyumen region.
The program will feature an exhibition of photographs "Uzbekistan: History and Present-day." The exhibition will be opened by Uzbek Consul General in Novosibirsk Abdurakhim Kayumov.
According to statistics, about 15,000 ethnic Uzbeks are currently residing in the Tyumen region.
