Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, Aug.17 / Trend, H. Hasanov /
Hunting season opened throughout public lands and hunting grounds, except in specifically protected territories. The hunting season will last until March 11, 2012, the country's media outlets reported.
Two rest days (Monday and Tuesday) were set during the week when hunting is not permitted. Hunting is not allowed during adverse weather conditions - too hot or too cold. Specific hunting rules were also set down for each type of animal.
"This is an important time for both the hunters and for inspectors from the Ministry of Natural Protection, who have increased control during this period, reliably preventing illegal poaching to preserve the natural resources", the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reports.
Announcing the hunting season corresponds with the Law "On Protection of Nature" and regulations "On Hunting in Turkmenistan".
The season is underway. Information is available on the quantity and status of wildlife in different countries, in their respective regions, and along certain hunting grounds. The Ministry for the Protection of Nature in Turkmenistan developed a document regulating hunting rules during this season as a guide for hunters.
The document prescribes certain norms, hunting rules in permitted areas, and defined time. Hunting of wolves, jackals, and foxes, as well as shooting of green and gold bee-eaters along apiaries, and within a100 meter zone around them is permitted. Hunting is banned in areas where game reproduces, and in lands which are permanently closed to hunting.
