An important step in the development of cooperation between the Russian company Saturn - Gas Turbines and State Concern (SC) Turkmengaz in Turkmenistan was the signing of a contract for the installation and commissioning of three gas turbine power plants supplied earlier by Saturn - Gas Turbines JSC, according to the Russian company's statement released on Thursday.

The contract also provides for the customer's personnel training that will serve the gas turbine's data system. It will be conducted in Russia and help Turkmen specialists to raise the level of their competence to the required level.

'In 2012, the two companies signed a contract for the supply of three gas turbine power plants with a single electrical output of 2.5 MW each in 2012. To date, the equipment has been shipped to the customer in full', the statement said.

Saturn - Gas Turbines JSC is a company-integrator and provider of integrated land power equipment (design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of gas turbine units, complex construction of power plants and maintenance of energy facilities) and manufacturer of equipment for the nuclear and chemical industries.

Russia occupies a leading position in the ranking of being Turkmenistan's largest trade partner and the country has intensified cooperation with Russia's largest regions in recent years.

Traditionally, cooperation is with developing the energy sector. Russian firm Gazprom regularly purchases Turkmen gas, Tatneft OJSC performs work in the western region of Turkmenistan and the Itera company is involved in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea.

As reported by the Turkmen government in March, the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in a telephone conversation invited his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

The invitation was accepted and a date will be agreed through diplomatic channels.
