Turkmenistan increases oil and liquefied natural gas production

In January-April 2013, Turkmenistan increased production of petroleum products, including motor gasoline by 1.9 percent, liquefied gas by 5.3 percent, polypropylene by 3.4 percent, various types of technical lubricants by 1.5 percent, according to the Turkmen government.

According to the report, Turkmenistan has increased the volumes of drilling operations by 27 percent compared with 2012.

Earlier, the Ministry of Oil and Gas of the country reported that the complex of oil refineries in Turkmenbashi, which is the largest industrial enterprise of the country's national economy, processed 6,535 million tons of raw materials in 2012.

About 1,760 million tons of gasoline and 2.34 million tons of diesel fuel were produced as well. These results indicate that production of gasoline has increased by 44 tons, while diesel fuel - by 52 tons compared to 2011.

Turkmenistan plans to bring the oil refining capacity to 15 million tons a year by 2015, to 20 million tons by 2020, to 22 million tons by 2025 and to 30 million tons by 2030. At this stage, the country annually produces about 10 million tons of oil, much of which is processed in local refineries.
