In honour of the Neutrality Day that will be celebrated on Dec.12, Turkmen President Gurbanguli Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree on pardoning some 630 convicted, a message from the country's government said.

In accordance to the president's decree, the pardoned are freed of further serving the basic, as well as the additional sentence in the form of imposing a duty of living in a certain place.

"Such actions give opportunity to the stumbled people to realize their guilt and take the way of betterment, having expiated it with honest work. The heads of local administrations have been ordered to take measures for the employment of the pardoned citizens," the country's government said.

Turkmenistan is committed to the principles of neutrality and legal status, and the value of neutrality is emphasized by the fact of reflection of Resolution "On the permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan", adopted by UN on 12 December 1995, in the country's basic law.

According to the military doctrine, Turkmenistan pursues a policy of positive neutrality and defense sufficiency, the keynote of which is refusing to participate in any military-political blocs.
