President of Turkmenistan signs decree on next conscription

The President, the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces (AF) of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed a decree on the transfer of the soldiers performing military service to the reserve of the Armed Forces, other forces of Turkmenistan, and the next conscription of the Turkmen citizens.
The document provides for the transfer of soldiers performing military service as well as those who have served statutory deadlines to the reserve in October-December 2014.
The Decree also provides for conscription of male citizens of Turkmenistan who do not qualify for deferment, who have reached the age of 18 on the day of conscription and senior citizens who have lost the right for deferment from military service during this period.
According to the accepted Turkmen military doctrine, the country follows the status of neutrality and is not included in any of the military-political blocs.
Turkmenistan borders with Kazakhstan, Iran, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Afghanistan on land and with Azerbaijan, Russia, Kazakhstan and Iran on the Caspian Sea.
