Turkmen president pardoned over 1000 convicts

Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has signed a decree pardoning 1020 convicts.
The president's pardon decree comes on the occasion of the 24th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence, celebrated Oct. 27-28.
President Berdimuhamedov signed the decree "being guided by the principles of mercy and humanism, bequeathed by great ancestors, to further strengthen the unity and solidarity of the Turkmen society and every family, as well as in honor of celebrations of the 24th anniversary of Turkmenistan's independence."
The president also instructed the heads of provinces, districts and cities throughout the country, as well as other relevant authorities to solve the issue of employment of those pardoned.
