Ukrainian financial-industrial group Altcom has completed the construction of a railway bridge across the Amu Darya River between the cities of Turkmenabat and Farap in Turkmenistan, the company said in a message June 8.
"Construction of the bridge is completed and the first train has passed over it," director of the Altcom's Turkmen branch, Alexander Hamaydula, said. "Currently, work continues to create the bank protection structures. This is an important part of the project, since the Amu Darya River has no permanent beds and is characterized by a high content of silt and seasonal floods."
Altcom is constructing three more bridges in Turkmenistan: the Turkmenabat-Farap highway bridge and two railway bridges over the Karakum River.
Previously, Altcom completed construction of a runway in the city of Dashoguz.
