Turkmenistan is preparing to host the first UN Global Conference on Sustainable Transportation in November 2016, said the country's government in a message June 11.
The issue on preparation was discussed at the Turkmen Cabinet of Ministers' meeting. The meeting's agenda covered a large number of topical issues.
Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said the development of the transport infrastructure is one of the priorities of the policy of Turkmenistan, which jointly with neighboring countries implements big projects.
"They open up enormous opportunities for the optimization of traffic flows in Eurasia, providing access to the sea terminals of the Black Sea and Baltic regions, South and South-East Asia, the Middle East, as well as to powerful economic centers, such as China, India, Pakistan, and countries of the Asia-Pacific region," said the message.
Kazakhstan-Turkmenistan-Iran and Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Tajikistan railways, road and rail bridges over the Amu Darya River, airports, motorways, the international sea port of Turkmenbashi city are intended to become the important links of transport communications' international network.
