Turkmenistan continues to care for cotton

Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammedov at the government meeting noted the need for timely implementation of all planned agrotechnical measures for cotton care, Dovlet Khabarlary, the state Agency of Turkmenistan, reported on May 31.
President emphasized the active use of advanced technologies, instructing in the scheduled time and high quality to care for cotton.
Turkmenistan began the sowing in late March. Some 545,000 hectares of land are allocated for cotton. In total it is planned to collect 1500000 tons of cotton, including in Akhal province– 207,000 tons, Dashoguz province – 230,000 tons, Lebap province - 300,000 tons, Mary province – 313,000 tons.
The campaign involves more than 7000 tractors of different brands, more than 2100 seeders, more than 5000 cotton cultivators and other agricultural machinery purchased in Europe and the United States.
The contractual obligations were overfulfilled, more than 1100000 tons of raw cotton were collected last year. Cotton is a significant export item of Turkmenistan and is a popular raw material for dozens of modern enterprises of the dynamically developing textile industry in the country.
