China, UK buy cotton yarn in Turkmenistan

China and Great Britain have bought cotton yarn in Turkmenistan at State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

The State Commodity Exchange of Turkmenistan registered 76 transactions last week. The transactions were concluded both in foreign currency and in Turkmen manat.

Turkmenistan sold polypropylene, which was produced at the Turkmenbashi Complex of Oil Refineries to Russia for foreign currency. Entrepreneurs from Afghanistan and Belize purchased heavy vacuum gas oil produced at the Seidin oil refinery also for foreign currency.

High-density polyethylene, polypropylene and ECO 93 gasoline (Turkmengas State Concern) became the subjects of transactions of businessmen from Russia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Afghanistan.

Russia, the UAE, Great Britain, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, and Georgia purchased cotton yarn and colorless sheet glass for foreign currency, the total amount of which exceeded $31.3 million.

Entrepreneurs from the Great Britain, the UAE, Belize, China, and Afghanistan bought cotton yarn and handmade carpet products for a total of more than 10.1 million manat ($2.9 million) for the Turkmen manat.

Meanwhile, businessmen from Turkmenistan purchased polyethylene and polypropylene (GC "Türkmengaz"), as well as cotton fiber and cotton lint for the domestic market. The total amount of transactions exceeded 139.5 million manat ($39.9 million).

The state commodity exchange of Turkmenistan was established on July 29, 1994. It is the most important body of state regulation of export-import operations.
