Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz, Balkan regions start wheat harvesting

Winter wheat harvesting has started in Dashoguz and Balkan regions of Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan State News Agency.

Farmers of Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz region plan to harvest 265,000 tons of grain. The farmers preferred to plant high-yielding wheat varieties that have proven themselves in the soil and climate conditions of the region.

As reported, 117 mobile mechanical repair teams will supply farmers with fuel and lubricants, as well as with spare parts for machinery around the clock.

The wheat harvesting will involve 449 combine harvesters, mainly John Deere purchased from the United States and German CLAAS. Delivery of wheat from fields to receiving points will be provided by 2,245 trucks.

The country plans to collect 80,000 tons of grain in Balkan region, and 900 trucks will transport grain to the receiving points, said the report.

Dozens of grain harvesters work in the fields of this region, to ensure the smooth operations. Furthermore, a network of repair and mechanical bases has been deployed to supply vehicles, spare parts, fuel and lubricants.

Wheat harvest in the Akhal, Lebap and Mary regions began on June 5, 2020.

Agriculture is one of the most important branches of Turkmenistan's economy. The main types of agricultural crops are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, fruit and vegetables.
