Turkmenistan continues to lead in supply of gas to China via pipeline

Turkmenistan continues to hold first place from January through October 2021 among the main suppliers of natural gas to Beijing via pipelines, Trend reports referring to TASS citing the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China.

According to the General Administration of Customs, China imported 19.8 million tons of gas from Turkmenistan during the reporting period.

Russia ranks second in terms of supply volume (more than 5.9 million tons), followed by Kazakhstan (3.7 million tons), Uzbekistan (2.6 million tons), and Myanmar (2.5 million tons).

According to the statistics of the General Administration of Customs, Turkmenistan was also the leading supplier of gas via pipeline to China in 2020. Turkmenistan’s share amounted to about 60 percent (20.7 million tons) of Beijing’s total import volume of gas. Russia exported about 2.9 million tons of gas to China during the same period.
