Turkmenistan to strengthen inspection of imported goods

The President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has instructed the Chairman of the State Customs Service Maksat Khudaikuliyev to ensure a more thorough inspection of goods imported into the country during a meeting of the State Security Council, Trend reports via the State News Agency of Turkmenistan.

“Taking into account the growth of foreign economic activity and the volume of international cargo transportation, it’s necessary to ensure a more thorough inspection of goods imported into the country and their full compliance with established quality standards,” Berdimuhamedov said.

Focusing on the key areas of activity of the Service, the president emphasized the need to apply the best practices of specialized structures of foreign states to build the capacity of transport and transit corridors running through the territory of Turkmenistan.

“It’s important to constantly control the issues of modernization of the material and technical base of customs terminals and the use of modern methods in the work,” he said, addressing the head of the State Customs Service with specific instructions.

Previously, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan established a normal functioning mode of mutual deliveries and transit cargo transportation. The respective process includes compliance with sanitary and epidemiological safety.
