BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 12. The Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific aims to cooperate with Turkmenistan in the implementation of innovative projects in the customs sphere of the country, Public Information Officer (ESCAP) Kavita Sukanandan told Trend.

She noted that ESCAP is the secretariat for the implementation of the Framework Agreement on the Facilitation of Cross-Border Paperless Trade in the Asia-Pacific Region, a UN treaty that is dedicated to promoting the digitalization of trade.

"This Framework Agreement contains several provisions to support developing member countries in improving conditions for cross-border paperless trade, such as pilot projects, capacity building and the use of international standards. ESCAP is working on the development of projects and activities to support the implementation of these provisions", - Sukanandan said.

She explained that the project is at an early stage of implementation.

After the information collection is completed, a report will be prepared together with an action plan to accelerate the digitalization of trade in Turkmenistan.
