BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 24. Turkmenistan exported $2.87 billion worth of natural gas to China from January through April 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Business Turkmenistan website.
This is 1.53 times higher than in the same period of 2021.
Turkmenistan continues to be the leader among gas exporters to China. Russia is in second place in this indicator ($1.04 billion).
Currently, Turkmen gas is supplied to China via three pipelines running along the Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan-Kazakhstan-China route. Their total throughput capacity is 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
Furthermore, an agreement was reached in February 2022 on the construction of the fourth line of the gas pipeline from Turkmenistan to China. It is expected that its commissioning will allow Turkmenistan to increase annual gas supplies to 65 billion cubic meters.
Turkmenistan exported about 34 billion cubic meters of natural gas to China in 2021.
