BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 25. Farmers in the Mary region in the south-east of Turkmenistan have completed the delivery of silkworm cocoons to the state, Trend reports citing the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).

This was reported by the head of the Mary region Dovranberdi Annaberdiev to the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting.

Farmers in the southeastern region of the country handed over 440 tons of silkworm cocoons to the state.

Sericulture is one of the leading branches of the agro-industrial complex of Turkmenistan. More than half of the volume of silkworm cocoon harvesting falls on the Lebap region.

Last year, the country received 2,100 tons of silkworm cocoons from Turkmen farmers.

One of the leading enterprises of the sericulture industry of Turkmenistan is the Ashgabat Silk Factory and the Turkmenabat Silk Production Association.

Turkmenistan's agricultural sector receives targeted support from the government.

Farmers, private entrepreneurs, and other agricultural producers can benefit from preferential bank loans. Farmers receive mineral fertilizers, high-quality seeds, and chemical plant protection products at preferential prices.
