BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 23. The US intends to stimulate active cooperation with Central Asian countries, in particular Turkmenistan, a source in the press service of the US Department of State told Trend.

"Currently, we are looking for opportunities for cooperation with Turkmenistan in overcoming the climate crisis, such as reducing methane emissions during the extraction and transportation of natural gas. Today’s geopolitical shifts within the region present both a unique and opportune time to continue to advance engagement with our Central Asian partners. The US goal is to drive this engagement by being a steadfast and reliable partner to countries in the region," said the source.

It was noted that, as a recent example, on November 7, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the US and Turkmenistan to expand bilateral cooperation in the field of healthcare and medical sciences.

"Promoting security in Central Asia is a priority for both the US and Turkmenistan. To achieve this goal, we are working with the Government of Turkmenistan to strengthen its ability to defend itself against security threats, help solve health problems, support education and economic growth," the department said.
