BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 23. Russia and Turkmenistan signed a memorandum on cooperation in the field of fisheries, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

The document was signed by the Minister of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan Mukhammetgeldi Serdarov and the Head of the Russian Federal Agency for Fisheries Ilya Shestakov, who arrived in Ashgabat as part of the Russian delegation to participate in the Turkmen-Russian business forum held on January 19 through 20.

For Russia and Turkmenistan, the agreement became the basis for the implementation of plans for the development of bilateral cooperation in the field of fisheries with an emphasis on the management of joint stocks of aquatic biological resources in the Caspian Sea.

The parties agreed on mutual cooperation in the field of aquaculture development, conservation of sturgeon species and fish stocks in the Caspian Sea, prevention of illegal fishing of aquatic biological resources, conducting research, as well as training specialists for the needs of the fishing industry.

Following the results of this forum, Turkmenistan and Russia signed 20 bilateral documents in the field of transport and logistics totaling over $2 billion.
