BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 10. Within the framework of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program, a meeting was held between representatives of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan and the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

During the meeting, ADB representatives presented the CAREC Advanced Transit System (CATS) and Information Common Exchange (ICE). The participants of the meeting discussed the issue of Turkmenistan's participation in this prototype system.

In turn, the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan shared information on the development of transit corridors passing through the territory of the country, consistent work on further digitalization of customs procedures, simplification of the mechanism of customs control and acceleration of customs clearance.

The CAREC Advanced Transit System is a regional transit system that aims to simplify and harmonize transport, trade and customs regulations, as well as to create an efficient, efficient, integrated and harmonized transit transportation system in the CAREC region. The main advantages of the system are increased security of the supply chain, saving time and money at the borders for transit operators, accelerated border crossing, and an optimized guarantee mechanism.
