Turkmenistan unveils data on cotton-sown lands in Mary region

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 23. The area of land sown with cotton in the Mary region in the southeast of Turkmenistan has been published, Trend reports with reference to the Turkmen media.

According to the information, 162,000 hectares of land have been sown in the region this year, from which 359,000 tons of cotton are planned to be harvested.

In general, 580,000 hectares of land were sown throughout the country this year, from which it is planned to harvest 1.25 million tons of cotton.

Furthermore, it is planned to sow 28,170 hectares of fields with potatoes, vegetables, and other crops in the region this season.

Agriculture in Turkmenistan is one of the most important branches of the economy.

The main types of agricultural crops grown on the territory of Turkmenistan are wheat, cotton, rice, sugar beet, fodder, vegetable, melon, fruit, and berry crops.
