Turkmenistan, Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers discuss development of transport corridors

BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 28. Turkmenistan and the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers discussed the main areas of cooperation and prospects for the development of international transport corridors in the region, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

These issues were discussed on February 25, 2023 during a meeting between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiyev and Chairman of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers Buri Karimov.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on Turkmenistan's active participation in the global transport dialogue, noted comprehensive national programs aimed at modernizing the logistics industry's material and technical base, expanding existing and forming new networks for integrating the domestic transport system into international infrastructure, creating large logistics centers in Turkmenistan that provide regional coordination of multimodal transportation.

At the same time, they touched upon the preparation and holding of events, including the upcoming 46th meeting of the Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers, as well as the possibility of organizing an international scientific and practical conference in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation on the organization and holding of joint upcoming events.

The Intergovernmental Council of Road Workers is an inter-industry level body of the CIS member countries, whose competence includes coordination of interaction between road administrations on the design, construction of roads and artificial structures, harmonization of weight and overall parameters of public roads, as well as scientific and technical cooperation and improvement of the level of training personnel with the CIS countries in the field of road activities.
