BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 3. The UNODC Regional Representative in Central Asia, Ashita Mittal, who arrived in Turkmenistan, visited the Artyk checkpoint on the Turkmen-Iranian border, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
The purpose of the visit was to familiarize with the activities of the customs post and identify new areas of cooperation between UNODC and the Government of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the regional representative of the UNODC and the Turkmen side discussed prospects for further cooperation, in particular the issue of creating interactive classrooms and situation centers for joint use here by customs and border guards.
Meanwhile, Ashita Mittal noted that the Artyk checkpoint on the Turkmen-Iranian border plays an important role in the development of cargo transportation and trade between the countries of the Persian Gulf and Central Asia.
