Turkmenistan records over 45% increase in non-cash payments through terminals and ATMs

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 26. The total volume of non-cash payments via terminals from January through February 2023 amounted to 2.16 billion Turkmen manat ($616.51 million) in Turkmenistan, Trend reports with reference to the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.

During the specified period, the total amount of non-cash payments through ATMs amounted to 49.56 million Turkmen manat ($14.14 million), which is 46 percent more than in the first two months of 2022 (33.94 million Turkmen manats or $9.68 million).

Non-cash turnover on bank cards from January through February of this year amounted to 2.36 billion Turkmen manats ($673.59 million).

Meanwhile, the total volume of non-cash payments through terminals in Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to 13.8 billion Turkmen manat ($3.93 billion), which is 27.6 percent more than in 2021 (10.81 billion Turkmen manat or $3.08 billion) .

The country's financial sector is constantly expanding. In particular, mobile applications are being introduced to pay for various services and goods, the number of non-cash payments is increasing, and payment for goods and services is being implemented through bank terminals.
