Turkmenistan attracts large volume of investments in 2022

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, July 25. The volume of foreign direct investment in Turkmenistan in 2022 amounted to 936 million US dollars, Trend reports.

According to the report of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) "World Investment Forum 2023", Turkmenistan took 3rd place in the Central Asian region in terms of the inflow of foreign direct investment.

The report notes that the net inflow of investments to the countries of the region increased by 39 percent, and against the background of the global crisis, Turkmenistan remains on the list of countries with a positive indicator of foreign direct investment despite a global decline of 12 percent.

The decline mainly affected developed countries, where investment inflows decreased by 37 percent to $378 billion, while developing countries increased this figure by 4 percent.

Foreign direct investments are mainly aimed at the development of the Turkmen fuel and energy sector, the chemical industry, and agriculture.
