ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 23. The government of Afghanistan plans to create a new border crossing with Turkmenistan through the Bala Murghab district of the northwestern Badghis province, Trend reports.

According to the official source, the purpose of creating a new route is to facilitate the export and import of goods.

The cost of construction has already been determined, and work is currently underway to implement it. The government is currently negotiating with companies to sign a construction contract.

The Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Afghanistan (ACCI) expressed confidence that the creation of a new transit crossing with Turkmenistan will contribute to the development of trade and the economy of Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan already has two operational border crossings with Turkmenistan - in the village of Aqina in Faryab province and in the city of Torgundi in Herat province.
