ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, September 25. Turkmenistan is reviewing development plans in connection with the results of the population census, Trend reports.
This was stated by the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at a meeting of the People's Council of the country held on September 24, 2023.
"As you know, last year, with the use of digital technologies, a general census of the population and housing stock of the country was conducted. The experts of the UN Population Fund highly appreciated the work carried out in full compliance with international standards," the head of state noted.
Berdimuhamedov noted that the results of the census as of December 17, 2022, showed that the population of the country is 7,057,841 people.
"In this regard, we face new challenges. I think it would be expedient, guided by the results of the written census, to conduct an appropriate audit and make clarifications in the plans for the next few years," the president stressed.
Meanwhile, Turkmenistan is making significant efforts for active development, focusing on the modernization of infrastructure, the construction of modern cities, and the active attraction of investments, which contributes to the creation of a favorable economic environment and ensuring sustainable growth in the country.
